Shinrin Shintai – Forest Movement – ApeFit and Surf & Turf!

Some time ago I came across the wonderful Japanese concept of Shinrin Yoku, forest bathing. Eva Selhub, author of “Your Brain on Nature” highlighted the numerous studies that have demonstrated  how “shinrin-yoku, also known as forest bathing or time spent in green spaces, can reduce the stress hormone cortisol and increase your immune defense system”.

Enter Shinrin Shintai!

It makes sense that combining this with movement, the kind of physicality and mindfulness that Simple Strength has promoted since it’s inception makes perfect sense. As Simple Strength advocates…Move the Body…Still the Mind…

Over the last few years we’ve been fortunate enough to learn and move with some of the worlds most interesting and progressive coaches and transferring that experience and knowledge into a natural environment is the logical conclusion.

So we came up with Shinrin-Shintai. Shinrin means forest. Shintai has a variety of meanings but all of them fit the brief when it comes to mindfulness, movement and re-connecting in the spirit of Simple Strength. Shintai can mean advance or retreat, it can mean essence, body, ultimate truth, new style and best of all movement. All of these are aspects and qualities we’ll be exploring, sharing and writing about. Add to that ApeFit the art of movement and play and you have a recipe for health and wellness based on engagement rather than prescriptive gym based training. We’re not thinking cross training…we’re thinking cross movement. Fit for purpose.

I am the first to acknowledge the source. The influences we absorb, the people we learn from, the movement we share. In the next few months I look forward to talking with some of the coaches we’ve hosted, introducing some new names (new to me at least) and sharing some of the adventures we’ll be having.

Meantime, head on over to Wilderness Sup Scotland’s premiere Paddle Board Surfing company and meet some guys who are releasing humans back in to the wild.

In the near future we’ll be adding Surf & Turf to the menu, the opportunity to SUP with some barefoot walkabout and ApeFit movement.

Active lifestyle is already a big step towards good health and good shape. From my own experience, it is also preferable to visit gym at least 1-2 times a week. In order to make my occasional trainings most intensive I am taking Super Army Formula by Military Grade. This dietary supplement provides me noticeable energy increase. My
trainings become more tough and intense. My body eagerly responds to harder
exercises, so I can take maximum from my workouts and improve my shape.
